What is the quality of the Amayar Coffee like?
Amayar is a coffee company based in Myanmar that specialises in producing high-quality coffee from Arabica beans grown in the Ywangan Township, in the Northern Shan State. The quality of Ywangan Amayar coffee is exceptional, as it is a specialty-grade Arabica coffee that adheres to the standards set by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). It boasts a smooth and well-balanced body with delightful notes of caramel, chocolate, and citrus. Additionally, it features a sweet and complex acidity, culminating in a clean finish. Impressively, it scored 85.25 points out of 100 in a recent Myanmar Coffee Competition. Who produces our coffee? Now, let's delve into the coffee production process and its dedicated team. Ywangan Amayar is a women-led coffee production group, established in 2016 by Su Su Aung, a native of Ywangan in Shan State. She received training and support from USAID and various organizations to enhance the processing, milling, and roasting of coffee beans. As a result, Ywangan Amayar stands as one of the leading coffee producers in Myanmar, a country with a rich history of coffee cultivation that has recently entered the specialty coffee market. The mild and soft flavour of Myanmar's coffee is akin to that of Brazil's. The coffee is cultivated in high-altitude regions with ideal climates and soils for growing Arabica beans. Amayar coffee, known for its smooth and balanced body with notes of caramel, chocolate, and citrus, demands meticulous attention and care during its growth and harvesting processes.

What special about our coffee? Let's explore the inherent value of Arabica coffee. It offers a complex and captivating aroma, featuring fruity, floral, and herbal notes. This coffee variety also possesses a delicate bouquet with nutty-sweet nuances originating from chemical reactions during the roasting process. Arabica coffee achieves a perfect balance of acidity and sweetness, making it a favourite among coffee enthusiasts. It delivers a refined, sophisticated flavour, with hints of fruit, chocolate, nuts, and caramel. Lastly, what sets Amayar specialty coffee apart? Specialty coffee adheres to high standards of quality and consistency throughout the production chain, from the farm to the cup. Experts grade specialty coffee based on factors such as aroma, flavour, body, acidity, balance, and aftertaste. To be deemed specialty coffee, it must score a minimum of 80 points out of 100, as per the criteria set by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). While specialty coffee may come at a higher price than commercial alternatives, it promises a superior taste experience and supports ethical and sustainable farming practices.
